Chicken Chow Mein
 
  STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS :
 
 
  In a small bowl, whisk together all the ingredients for the sauce and set aside.

Cook the noodles in boiling water, rinse with cold water, and set aside.

In a wok over medium-high heat, add the sesame oil, cut the chicken into small cubes, add the spices, and roast.

Remove and set aside.
 
 
 
  Add the carrots, peppers, onions, cabbage, and garlic to the wok and sauté for a few minutes.

Add the chicken, bean sprouts, and noodles, and mix well.

Cook for a couple of minutes and then add the sauce.

Cook for another two minutes.

When done, garnish with the scallions.

LIST OF INGREDIENTS :
 
   
  1 pound of chicken, skinless and boneless
1/2 teaspoon of Chinese five-spice powder
3 tablespoons of sesame oil
12 ounces of uncooked chow mein noodles
2 cups of chopped Chinese cabbage
1 pound of bean sprouts
2 stalks of celery, sliced diagonally
1/2 red pepper and 1/2 yellow pepper, sliced
1 large onion, coarsely chopped
1 large carrot, shredded
4 scallions, coarsely chopped
2 cloves of garlic, finely chopped
   
Chow Mein Sauce
   
  6 tablespoons of oyster sauce
3 tablespoons of soy sauce
3 tablespoons of sesame oil
1/2 cup of chicken broth
1 tablespoon of cornstarch
