Homemade Baked beans

  STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS :

1 bag of beans, 900 g (soak in water overnight).

Rinse the beans in the morning and bring to a boil. When they start boiling, remove from the stove and add a teaspoon of baking soda while stirring; this will create foam.

Rinse the beans again and place them in a stoneware pot or another suitable container.

Sprinkle a tablespoon of dry mustard on top, season with salt and pepper to taste.

Add slices of onion and slices of bacon (for baked beans).

Then, add 1/2 cup of molasses or 1 cup of maple syrup.

The beans in the photos on this recipe page were cooked with maple syrup. If you use molasses instead of maple syrup, the beans will become darker.

Fill with water to cover the beans.

Bake at 300°F for about 4 to 6 hours.

Add water occasionally.

NOTE: For those who have difficulty digesting beans, you can replace the water with an equal amount of Pepsi or diet Pepsi.

  For canning :

Sterilize the Mason jars and place the lids in boiling water for 10 minutes.

Pour the cooked beans into the jars and place the lids on top.

Place in the oven at 250°F for 30 minutes.

Turn off the oven temperature and let the jars cool in the oven with the door open.
