Darren John Wilkinson (The Sheddy Man) is certified contributor for Gardening Homesteading USA Canada. He has been showcasing his numerous gardening, landscaping, and smallholding projects on his YouTube channel (I'm In The Shed). His videos are presented from his shed located on his small plot, hence his nickname "The Sheddy Man".

In this video, The Sheddy Man shows us how to make a homemade chive spray and plant fertilizer. Why not create a solution to spray or water your plants and repel pests with this onion-like scent? Here are the steps and methods for making the mixture that will give your garden plants a boost without spending any money.

Keeping pests away with the smell

Chive spray and plant feeds … there’s so much we can use which are free and organic to give our plants that bit extra help .. with out spending money .. I normally chuck my chive cuttings on compost but thought why not make a solution to either spray or water my plants ..

This is after using my old compost I’d grew my onions in (pots)… and noticed I didn’t really have any problems with pests growing my seedlings.. made me think the onion smelling compost was probably keeping pests away with the smell… so hopefully this works great....

Free and organic to give our plants that bit extra help

Cutting back my chives for a fresh display made me think of ways to use them after seeing others making sprays for pest control..

Normally in the compost pile but after using my left over pots from growing my onions .. I realized how my new seedlings never really had any damage because of the onion smelling old soil from pots .. so will it work as a spray .. why wouldn’t it lol.. and as always making various water based solutions to feed my plants .. nothing better than making your own and free .. Nature provides so much that sometimes we don’t use.. go on make some .. free organic…

HAPPY SOWING HAPPY GROWING.
