My goals are
to show people that growing shouldn’t be
complicated ..but simple and easy with a little
of love ..you’ll be rewarded with home grown
vegetables and fruit..
I’ve had my plot
since April 2016 but I actually have been
growing since I was 3 years old with my father
having an allotment growing up.. then moving to
a bigger house and big back garden growing all
sorts of.. I remember having a kiwi plant in the
massive greenhouse which was an unusual in the
80’s..
My passion progressed to me growing
and selling plants for many years as a child..
My knowledge grew as I got older and then having
a family of my own I had a little plot at my
house ..but I wanted more so put my name down at
council for an allotment..took 6.5 years but
here I am now making videos and hopefully
inspiring others to sow their first seed..
I have a lifetime of knowledge in many
plants as experimenting has always been the key
in understanding how your plants react to where
you live.. as someone in a warmer climate may
not have the same problems as you do in a cooler
environment.. one thing I would say is making
your own compost is an example of self
sufficiently.. cutting down on costs .. no dig
is one example of what I’m trying ( USA STYLE)
.. think of it like a forest floor .. you’ll
never regret it as the woodchip is breaking down
making a truely excellent soil
enhancer..especially is you have clay
soil..would I say I’m a expert in anything.. I’d
say I’m constantly learning to help others to
enjoy the experience of growing your own plants
.. to see that seed grow into something you
grew..
Why IM IN THE SHED .. well when I
started my YouTube I called it GREEN FINGER’D
NOVICE.. as didn’t want people to think I was
being a garden snob thinking I knew it all.. but
then I wanted to change the name .. one day I’m
at allotment and other plot holders kept asking
where am I… IM IN THE SHED.. hence why it became
that .. as the shed at a plot is like a home
from home when your sheltering from the rain
having a lovely hot drink or having a chat with
another plot holder..as I’ve got a settee in my
shed so nice to have a nice sit down /chat/pot
on ..
Plot definition .. my plot is 15m
x 15m ..technically 2 plots ..as has a path down
middle which allowed me to devide it into a good
working space .. polytunnel and greenhouse one
side and shed other side .. so easy access when
moving about ..then a chicken coop next to
greenhouse so any excess plants given to
chickens who give me plenty of chicken manure….
It’s an all round recycle reuse technique which
as made me literally self sufficient... |
